Jerome Lamaar presented his fall/winter 2016 collection for his namesake label, 5:31 JÉRÔME on January 12. The presentation was held at the High Line Room at the Standard Hotel in Chelsea. After launching the collection in 2014, Lamaar’s work was well received and counts Beyoncé as a fan. After viewing the fall presentation, it’s not hard to understand why.
“More is more” was definitely the motto when it came to embellishments and proportions. Jerome described the collection as “Street Glam for the Hyperfemme” incorporating 70’s glamour elements with modern day city chic. Models were shown with 70’s inspired big, voluminous hair taking cues from Bridget Bardot. The models were shown with chunky silver jewelry and long grey tips.
The collection was primarily in tones of deep blues, purples, and black. My favorite looks were the full sleeve baby doll see through embellished dress and the corded shift dress with the lace sleeves. The collection consisted primarily of updated, luxurious basics that Jerome reimagined for fall. The shoes were fur trimmed slippers and heels that looked incredibly comfy and were statement worthy pieces. He also showed two models (male and female) in large chunky blue fur coats that will definitely show up on celebs and street style blogs.
The attention to detail Jerome paid in creating the fall collection is amazing. Check out the looks below.
