The International Music Trade Body names Adele the Global Recording Artist of 2015 across all music platforms.
Adele was officially the biggest-selling artist of 2015 according to global music industry body IFPI. The IFPI stated that the singer was the top-selling musical act last year based on worldwide sales of recordings and they also called her achievements “simply phenomenal.”
Adele has managed to sell a lot more of her album ’25’ in the last two months of 2015 than any other artist did over the entire year. How amazing is that? Adele’s success derived mainly from her lead single “Hello” which was the first to be downloaded more than one million times in the U.S in one week. The track was number one in more than 30 countries worldwide, including the United States, Germany, France, italy, Australia and the United Kingdom.
IFPI which stands for the International federation of the Phonographic Industry presents its annual award based on an artist’s physical and digital sales as well as streaming. The IFPI chief executive Frances Moore made a comment on Adele’s award stating “I’m delighted to be able to honor Adele as the most popular global recording of 2015. Her album 25 has been the runaway global sensation of the year, breaking records across the world and reaching a vast audience of fans. All of the artists in our top 10 chart have achieved incredible success – and Adele’s achievement is simply phenomenal.”
