The lights. The sounds. The stages. The Disney World esque Epcot Theater?
The second annual Panorama Music Festival took place from July 28 to 30 on Randall’s Island in New York. The festival significantly grew larger within just a one year span, attracting greater audiences and even greater musical talents. This year’s line-up included Frank Ocean, MGMT, Tame Impala, Tyler the Creator, Glass Animals, and more, all playing their hearts out to the several thousand fans bearing the heat and lining up for for the best grassy seats.
Brought to us by Coachella’s mother company GoldenVoice, Panorama offers a new take on the weekend music festival we’ve come to expect (some on Randall’s Island, some not– not to name names). Not only does the festival offer countless food, drink and merch vendors, but it gives concertgoers the chance to experience the setting they find themselves in.
The Lab is just one of the many ways Panorama allows its audience to immerse themselves into another world: the 360 degree theater whose design is reminiscent of Epcot Theater in Florida. Corporate conglomerates aside, the Lab is an immersive theater experience that has extremely lucid visual displays compacted with a calming yet aspiring musical soundtrack provided by several New York City artists. With Panorama offering not only a musical but visual stimulus for our senses, it’s great to see such a new festival truly attract its target audience.
And growing so much within a year, we can only imagine what else is next for the festival to move. Last year’s line-up included Kendrick Lamar, Arcade Fire, Schoolboy Q, Major Lazer, DJ Khaled, and more. With a larger audience in attendance and the line up gaining yearly, what else can’t we expect from Panorama?
