Zendaya released a new track “Something New” Ft. Chris Brown on Feb. 3.
The track opens with an instantly recognizable sample of TLC’s “Creep”. The entire song keeps that sample a alive with a 90s hip-hop beat with a few nods to EDM to distinguish it as a modern track. Zendaya then comes in with great pop vocals singing about how she wants to be a tad promiscuous and try “Something New” with someone despite not even knowing their name.
Brown’s feature on the track echoes Zendaya’s sentiment in wanting to explore in a no strings relationship. The end of the songs drags out a bit with the repetition but overall it’s a well put together pop single to groove to in the car. The track was produced by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Khris Riddick-Tynes and can be purchased at all digital retailers or you can listen to it below.
Her debut self titled album had several electro-pop hits including “Replay” with went platinum. Her newest single hints that the second album with have even more sleek pop tracks. Alongside working on her sophomore album, Zendaya has also been working on her Disney Channel spy comedy K.C. Undercover. The singer has also just been named the newest spokeswoman for CoverGirl.
