If You Love Clean Beauty, Alaffia Should Be On Your Radar

I’ve recently had the opportunity to try out some products from the award-winning skin and hair care brand Alaffia. I’m always excited to try new beauty products but get even more excited when I find some that I fall in love with.

Alaffia is an incredible brand that I can only wish I had come across years ago. Finding affordable, clean beauty products with a cause can be difficult, so learning that a brand like Alaffia is out there is exciting.  Founded by Olowo-n’djo Tchala in 2003, Alaffia has been making its way into the mainstream beauty world where it belongs. Olowo-n’djo inspiration for creating Alaffia was the love for his home, Togo, West Africa. Alaffia uses ethically sourced ingredients like unrefined shea butter, virgin coconut oil, and African black soap to create products using traditional African recipes to make incredible products.

Of all the Alaffia products I was fortunate to try, my favorite so far is Whipped Shea Butter & Coconut Oil with a Lavender scent.

I have very dry skin, and it tends to get dryer in colder weather, so anything that claims it’s hydrating is worth a try. Not only was this product hydrating, but it leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth without a sticky feeling. After loving the way, the Whipped Shea Butter felt on my skin, I threw the Coconut Reishi Vanilla Hand & Body Cream in my bag and can not have a good day without using it.

I’ve tried many hand creams, especially recently with my skin drying out from constantly using hand sanitizer, and this one really keeps my hands super soft without feeling greasy.

Another one of my favorites is the Coconut Reishi Rose Toning Mist. I love a good toner, and toning the skin is an essential step in any good skincare routine. Of the three toners, Alaffia has to offer; this one works the best for my skin.

I’m so eager to keep using and trying my Alaffia products, and I’m so happy I learned about this brand. Not only is Alaffia an effective clean beauty brand, but they also give back to disadvantaged communities in Togo, West Africa. The brand is dedicated to empowering the people in the communities that grow and source their ingredients. Alaffia is certified by ECOCERT and Fair For Life for consistently demonstrating fair trade practices. With most of Alaffia’s product having a primary base of coconut or shea, it’s important that the communities in the countries these ingredients are being sourced from aren’t being taken advantage of. These certifications let’s us, the consumer, know that Alaffia is committed to fair trade practices.
