Ayo!! Sak ap fetè!
On April 28, Wyclef Jean joined Rob Markman at The Paley Museum for PaleyLive: “Quantum Leap,” celebrating his seven-album rollout and cultural impact.
If you asked me about my Mount Rushmore of producers, I’d name Quincy Jones, Babyface, Wyclef Jean, Jermaine Dupri, and the duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
Wyclef’s “Quantum Leap’ will span seven albums released over a few quarters. If you’ve been wondering where he’s been, he ran for president of Haiti. He wasn’t hiding he was leading, building, and gaining experiences many artists never will. Though the industry has changed, he has stayed active writing, producing, and evolving through lived experience.
A highlight of the night was the conversation with Rob Markman, who shared that Wyclef supported him early in his journalism career, making it a full-circle moment now that he is VP at Genius.
The audience also heard new music from the project. When kompa a Haitian style played, the room stood and danced, reflecting Wyclef’s cultural reach and connection through sound.
He continues to shape how we experience music how we move, sing, and connect.
“Quantum Leap” signals his next chapter an exploration of time, sound, and evolution. What does quantum mean in Wyclef’s world? What kind of leap is he inviting us into? Let’s find out together.
