Designer Vivienne Hu opts for feminine practicality in her eponymous brand’s Spring/Summer ’21 collection.
Hu’s showcase, entitled “Working from Home,” debuted this week with a virtual NYFW showcase. With delicate lace details, gentle menswear-inspired shirts, and dreamy negligees, models walked with a polished slouch, emphasizing the laid-back chic of working from home. Hu combined classic sleepwear elements with traditional office attire, epitomizing the title of her SS’21 collection.
The fifty-piece collection easily transitions from Zoom-friendly ensembles to post-COVID office parties. Dubbed “loungewear to luxury fashion” in the designer’s statement, Hu’s collection is a bright spot in ready to wear fashion as we all adapt to spending more time at home.
Standout looks include an undone, off-the-shoulder button-up shirt with cream lace details, cinched into matching drawstring shorts, an oversized soft mint green jacket with billowing sleeves, and a vintage nightgown-inspired dress with sheer lace panels along the bodice.
Hu’s collection is not only a success for a virtual NYFW, but answers the pivotal fashion question: what does one wear to a Zoom meeting?
