Over a year since the start of the global pandemic, the stars happily gathered to celebrate the opening of The House Next Door: Meet The Blacks 2 at LA LIVE on Monday, June 7th. Written and directed by Deon Taylor, the hilarious Black family is back with more antics; except this time with a spooky twist. Starring the family of four Mike Epps, Zulay Henao, Bresha Webb, and Alex Henderson along with the great Snoop Dog, Kat Williams and Gary Owen, Meet The Blacks 2 is guaranteed to have you laughing.
The guest list for the premiere included fan favorites like T.I, Luenelle Campbell, Terrence J, Miles Brown, TINY, and Juhahn Jones. Courtney Nichole, Johann Sebastian, and Lawrence Robinson were also in attendance to see the beloved comedians perform on the big screen.
The Blacks return with questions concerning their new neighbors who just so happen to be vampires. You can imagine how uproarious these comedians get with a script like this. Writer, Corey Harrell, says the concept of the movie was to pay homage to the 80s horror films like The Burbs meets Fright Night and Friday. He says this film worked because these comedians are an βall-star team.β
βThey took the script and made it their own,β said Harrell. βYouβve got Kat Williams and itβs just madness so Iβm excited to see how itβs all gonna come out.β
With such a hilarious cast, you might wonder how anything got done on set. Roxanne Avent Taylor says as a producer it was βa hot mess.β
βIt was so funnyβ¦ Iβm like pulling my hair out but laughing at the same time cause Iβm like Kat, youβve gotta put the joint down.β
This funny bunch later celebrated the opening of the film with cocktails & tuna tartare at the Highlight Room located at the Dream Hotel Rooftop. Snoop Dogg DJβd while Michael Blackson was seen dancing.
The night represented a hopeful and historical time in American Cinema as we celebrate coming back to the theatre once again. You can enjoy watching Meet The Blacks 2 in theatres this Friday, June 11th.
