What was it like working on the song?
Actually it was one of the sessions where you don’t know what’s gonna happen with the song but we produced it with hopes of having just another song for the catalogue and it ended up being a song that Chris Martin took to, and he added production to and it ended up on the album. So I’m grateful for the experience, yeah.
And it ended up being a really big hit. Was that exciting for you?
It was. I think it was more exciting knowing that we didn’t plan it to happen that way and sometimes you might produce a song thinking this is gonna be a great hit but honestly when we got the call for it we didn’t remember which one it was, ’cause we’d done so many, so it’s just good to see the little seeds that you plant come to fruition later.
What else do you have in the works?
Well I have a couple of local artists that I’m working with in Brooklyn, New York. Keys Strings and A Pen Music is a label that I’m currently working with, so, yeah I’m looking forward to new things with them.
And you’re from New York?
Yes, I’m from Brooklyn.
And how exciting is it to be honored in your city?
Amazing. Because you hear so much about other cities, but New York is where a lot of music started so for me, it’s just a blessing to be able to be here in the city that created a lot of things musically, and it’s just an honor.
How did you get your start?
I got my start … my mom actually bought me my first keyboard at six years old for my sixth birthday and I just started playing music off the radio and taught myself how to play. And now we’re here.
