To celebrate national oyster day, the Urban Cove Society and Kitchens is launching a new three course oyster menu for only $40 per person. The menu includes a cocktail pairing option for just another $20. The liquor used in the cocktails are all sustainably made by the Industrious Spirit Company and were distilled with oysters, giving it unique notes that truly complement each dish. $5 from each menu will also be donated to the Billion Oyster Projects. Not only are you getting an oyster feast yourself, you will also be helping restore the oyster reefs in the New York harbor!
The entire dining experience was spectacular, starting off with a welcoming glass of champagne. Each course of the menu was extremely unique and featured different types of oysters for each dish. The first course was “Jewels and Oysters”, which were oysters in shell served with a refreshing yuzu granita and topped with caviar and gold flakes. These Kumamoto oysters had the perfect balance of brininess and freshness. The cocktail pairing was a perfectly crafted Collins made with Seaflow Ocean Gin.
The second course oysters came fresh off the oven in the form of miso-glazed roasted oysters made with Pacific oysters. These were definitely our favorite as it paired perfectly with the “Coastal Harvest” cocktail. The drink was created with Ostreida Oyster Vodka, beet juice, and a splash of tangy apple cider vinegar.
The last course was definitely the most different, the Cucumber Mint Oyster Elixir. These oyster shooters are Blue Point oysters served with mint-infused vodka and a umami base of seaweed salad. To pair with the alcoholic sauce, this round’s drink is a refreshing Cucumber Mint Fizz mocktail. After our delicious meal, we had to try out more of their extensive menu.
With the delectable and strong drinks, we decided on some carbs and had both the Korean chicken burger and the smash burger. Both burgers knocked it out of the park, and both had enormous double patties we delightfully munched through. The fries were also the perfect thick cut of potato fried golden. The restaurant is also hosting a burger special in September, so make sure to check them out then, too. In the meantime, come to the Seaport Hotel to enjoy a memorable night of oysters and cocktails.
