On Wednesday, July 21st, George Stone III, better known by his stage name EST Gee, performed at New York City’s well-known venue, Irving Plaza.
I attended the show and was pleased with EST Gee’s performance. EST Gee is signed by Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group (CMG) and Interscope Records. The rapper is well recognized for his appearance on rapper Lil Baby’s song “Real as It Gets.” Bigger Than Life or Death, his big label debut mixtape, was released on July 21, 2021, and reached number 7 on the Billboard 200.
As I reached the venue, I noticed the line had already gone around the block. Not knowing beforehand about EST Gee and his music, it seemed like he had a good fanbase. Overhearing the show was sold out was surprising. Inside the two DJ’s were a vibe, getting the fans hyped for an awesome show. The DJs played a variety of different artists like Pop Smoke, Yo Gotti, City Girls, and much more which made for a hype DJ set before EST Gee came out to perform. DJ Spin King and Nyla Symone’s sets were amazing.
After a while, EST Gee came out and the crowd went wild. He was engaged with the audience and he even brought up fans to dance on stage. It was incredible to watch him have fun with the fans. His debut album Bigger Than Life or Death had recently come out and everyone already knew the lyrics to all of the songs on there. He had an enlightened presence on stage and he looked like he was enjoying himself seeing his hard work had paid off.
The performance was lively, especially his interaction with the fans. Rowdy Rebel even came out and performed “Computers”. The crowd went crazy. Yo Gotti made an appearance as well and performed alongside EST Gee. EST Gee even announced that Cam’ron from DipSet was supposed to come out, but was unable to due to an unexpected emergency. Who knows what the next show will bring! Overall I enjoyed the show and EST gee definitely gained a fan. I would definitely recommend listening to his music and seeing him live.
