U2 will be honored at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards on April 3 in Los Angeles.
The band will be receiving the ceremony’s most prestigious honor, the iHeartRadio Innovator Award. They were chosen for their contributions to pop culture and music as well as their support and activism for social issues. President of National Programming Group for iHeartRadio said in a statement that, “It is extremely rare to have a band that has spent four decades not only changing music, but helping change the world with their tireless dedication to important social causes focusing on AIDS, poverty, cancer, the environment, Hurricane Katrina and much more.”
With host Jason Derulo iHeartRadio will have a live celebration of the music fans love on the app. There will be performances by Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor, Zayn, Chris Brown, DNCE, Fetty Wap, Demi Lovato and more. The show will also feature never before seen duets and collaborations between artists.
U2 has won a record breaking 22 Grammy’s and have had many renowned world tours including u2 360, Vertigo, ZooTC and Popmart. Most recently they’ve been on their Innocence + Experience tour for their latest album Songs of innocence.
The award show will be broadcasted live that Sunday on TBS, TNT and truTV at 8 p.m ET. The show will also be broadcasted on iHeartMedia stations and across the iHeartRadio digital stations.
