It’s in an actual water tower!!
On Wednesday, November 7th, we got a chance to take an inside look at The Water Tower, which is the newest addition to The Williamsburg Hotel. Located at the very top of the hotel and taking inspiration from the old water towers you would see in the 90s, The Water Tower is a chic and refined lounge where guests can sit and enjoy a variety of interesting food and tasty cocktails. With velvet couches lining the windows and having murals from local artists. The space gives off a very subtle industrial vibe with brass, steel, and glass linings. But, what we liked a lot about it was that it was a space that provides a very intimate setting (seating around 45 people), which moves it away from some of the loud and over the top lounges you see at other places. Another thing that sets this places apart from other lounges is the drink menu. This cocktail selection is one that is very playful but has a level of finesse that you don’t see very often. One example of that is their drink called the Purple Rain, taking inspiration from the Prince song.
The cocktail is made up of Empress Gin, Cocchi Americano, Pear Williams, and CBD oil. The “rain” in this drink was from the CBD oil which was gently poured into our drink in front of us by the waitress. This drink is liquor forward with a very subtle sweetness meaning that it is strong and not too sweet. Our other favorite drink was the Les Gnomes which was made with Absolut Elyx, Singani 63, Ancho Reyes, ginger syrup, and lemon juice. This drink is sweeter than the other drink and goes down really smooth but also had a little spice to it with the ginger syrup. It even comes in a cute gnome cup which made it even more fun to drink. Although the main stars of this lounge are the drinks, we cannot forget to include some of the tasty bites we had. On the menu, there is a selection of West Coast Oysters, caviar sandwiches, truffle grilled cheese, and an assortment of crudité. Our favorite bite was the truffle grilled cheese. It’s hard to go wrong with a grilled cheese, but what we loved about this was that the truffle flavor was subtle and did not overpower the sandwich. The cheese was mellow and a little tangy which was a great compliment to the truffle. What better thing to eat with some delicious cocktails than a good grilled cheese?
The Water Tower will be open on Friday, November 16th, so be sure to check it out. This lounge is a great space to hang out, have a nitecap, or even bring a date to.
