Crappy Holidays everyone
Happy Holidays! Or should we say, Happy Hellidays. The Skinny, located in downtown Manhattan, has taken a very twisted take on the holidays and opened up their own “Helliday Inn.” The Skinny, now known as the Helliday Inn, has transformed itself into an anti-holiday themed pop up in which they celebrate all the bad things about the holidays. We got a chance to check out this pop up on Wednesday and we loved what we saw.
When we first walked in, we were essentially assaulted with some of the tackiest holiday decorations. Every single inch of the bar ceiling was lined with Christmas lights, reindeer heads were mounted on the walls, and instead of the happy and jolly Santa, they had what they called “hangry Santa.”
The event accompanied some events such as a live piano players singling along to classic holiday songs with a very dirty take to it. Drag and burlesque shows are also happening throughout the week as well as Krampus Karaoke. And along with the very fun and unique ambiance, the drink menu is festive, naughty, and delicious.
One of our favorites on the menu was called the “Flying Elf,” which was essentially a frozen Grasshopper topped with whipped cream. Another fun drink was called “Don’t Leave the Kids Alone with Uncle Johnny” which is their take of milk and cookies. The drink is made with Jim Bean Fire, a Rumchata Shot, and accompanied with a cookie on the side. And the last of our favorite drinks that we tried was the “Come Give Santa a Big Wet One,” which is made with Svedka vodka, prosecco, raspberry puree, and ginger syrup. The Helliday Inn is running from November 29th all the way to January 31st so be sure to check it out!
