Led by Tanner Beard, Tomik Mansoori, Theo Dumont, Alexandra Chando, Nicole Castro, Alexandra Lasky, and Evan Weissman, the Mammoth Film Festival’s international reach has grown considerably since its inception in 2018. Wild7Films sponsored the event and premiered two of their own projects, Better Daze and Tree of Life.
With the festival having taken place over March 2-6, 2023, an impressive film slate of over 84 projects, inclusive of daily world premieres, and featuring 22 international films and 13 world premiere features, this year marks an official expansion, adding a fifth day to its lineup for the first time.
The panel of judges for 2023 include Rob Weiss (writer/producer, Entourage, Ballers), Ashley Benson (actress), Jamie Chung (actress), Geoff Stults (actor), Luke Watson (writer/producer), Curt Morgan (producer, Art of Flight, Dark Matter), Carly Margulies (USA Olympic team), and Daysha Broadway (Emmy winner/editor).
Mammoth Film Festival’s 2023 lineup aims to showcase diversity while also ensuring that everyone, regardless of their festival status (talent, filmmaker, or fan), stands shoulder to shoulder in celebration of their completed works.
In an effort of promoting diverse backgrounds, the festival strives to highlight both young and seasoned filmmakers, and both talented newcomers and already established actors. The festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit festival benefiting the Mammoth Media Institute and Mammoth Film Summit programs.
This year’s festival has been a true buyer’s market, with previous festivals resulting in sales across various genres, from features, to episodic, to documentaries. With more recognition year after year in the festival circuit, Mammoth Film Festival has become a place where filmmakers want to world premiere, where first-timers want to debut, and where producers can get their films in the hands of key distribution companies. Much young talent have also secured representation as a result of their festival award winner status.
The MammothFF Marketplace features a network of distributors, sales representatives, agents, managers, and production companies seeking features, episodic, and new talent in acting, directing, writing, and all other aspects of the entertainment industry. As festival founders Tanner Beard and Tomik Mansoori explain, they “want to put film[s] in a position not just to be ‘seen’ but to potentially be bought and sold.”
None of this would be possible without the festival’s sponsors and supporters, including this year’s partners Wild7Films, Sierra Nevada Resort, Saldo Wines, White Claw, El Cristiano Ultra Premium Tequila, Advanced Air, Peak IV Hydration and Therapy, Reign Energy, Honey Drop beverages, TAVI Apparel, The Westin Monache Resort, RAK The Planet, E-Tech Rentals, and PATH Water, as well as global photo agency and photo marketplace Shutterstock and VisitMammoth.com.
With the 2023 schedule introducing expanded programming, new venues will be integrated through the festival’s activities in support of the town of Mammoth Lakes. The founders Tanner Beard and Tomik Mansoori have committed to ensuring a responsible film festival experience that incorporates and supports local businesses and encourages town tourism, with The Village serving as a festival hub.
