We sure did, and last week, the velvet curtain parted to reveal a truly unforgettable evening at House of the Red Pearl, the seductive, hidden speakeasy tucked away in the iconic Seaport building. Guests were transported into an opulent, jazz-filled escape as the space celebrated the launch of its inventive new cocktail menu.

The atmosphere was electric yet intimate, making it the perfect spot for date night or an evening out with friends. Attendees sipped on bold, whimsical cocktails like the Chinese Mustard Martini (served with crispy wontons), Fortune Cookie Milk Punch, and the shareable Jungle Bird Punch, each crafted using modern mixology techniques such as milk washing and botanical infusions. Guests were also treated to delicious Chinese-inspired small bites for the perfect taste of the delectable menu.

If there’s one artist that matches the mood and mystique of the atmosphere perfectly, it’s Chloe Flower. Known for blending classical piano with contemporary beats and high-style sensibility, Chloe brought her signature flair to the sultry setting. Known for blending classical piano with contemporary beats and high-style sensibility, Chloe performed selections from her latest album I LOVE ME MORE, which was originally conceptualized during a dinner at House of the Red Pearl itself, a full circle moment almost as beautiful as her performance.

In addition, the season features a newly launched cocktail menu, where traditional Chinese flavors are reimagined with modern technique and flair. Each cocktail is as visually stunning as it is innovative. Here’s a closer look at the standout offerings:

Christie Freer, May 14, 2025

Chinese Hot Mustard Martini – $21
A daring take on the classic martini. Grey Goose Vodka and blanc vermouth are infused with a bracing Chinese hot mustard brine, served with crispy wonton chips on the side. It’s sharp, savory, and unexpectedly addictive.

Lychee Martini – $20
A House favorite. Grey Goose Vodka is blended with lychee purée, pisco, St-Germain, cucumber, lemon juice, and a silky egg white finish. Floral and fruity with a sophisticated edge. Also available non-alcoholic.

Pandan Negroni – $19
This inventive twist on a Negroni uses pandan-infused Bombay Sapphire gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, cold brew coffee, and coconut. Earthy, bitter, and richly aromatic.

Cherry Blossom Highball – $20
Light, bubbly, and elegant. Roku Gin meets cherry blossom, ruby red grapefruit cordial, Lillet Blanc, and a touch of Kirsch, finished with a lively carbonation. A perfect springtime sipper.

Jade Pearl Sour – $21
A vibrant tequila-based sour with layers of Patrón Silver, Cocchi Americano, jasmine tea, apricot, lemon, and yuzu. Tart, fragrant, and beautifully balanced.

Five Spice Cup – $18
Suntory Toki Whisky and Pimm’s No. 1 join forces with Chinese five spice, ginger, honey, and lime juice for a refreshing, slightly smoky cocktail with a whisper of warmth. Available as a non-alcoholic version as well.

“Sweet and Sour” Jungle Bird – $62 (serves four)
A theatrical, shareable punch made with Diplomatico 12 and black strap rums, Campari, pineapple, passionfruit, strawberry, lime, and a sweet-and-sour sauce. A tropical explosion with a sultry twist.

Black and White Old Fashioned – $22
A deeply complex take on a classic. Basil Hayden’s Rye is white chocolate-washed and paired with toasted black sesame-infused Cognac and Yunnan black sugar. Smoky, rich, and indulgent.

Fortune Cookie Milk Punch – $18
One of the menu’s most unique offerings, this clarified milk punch blends Patrón Reposado, soba cha (roasted buckwheat tea), sherry, vermouth, maple verjus, and toasted almond. Creamy, nutty, and utterly smooth.
