The Nolcha Shows have become well known throughout the fashion world. During Fashion Week, the Nolcha Shows give independent designers the platform to showcase their collections to press, retailers, and stylists.
On Saturday, September 7th, Nolcha held two group fashion shows, showcasing a total of eleven independent designers. Nolcha held their group show at the Union West venue in NYC. The first group show began at 6 pm showcasing Amnesia, KavenLiu Dimor, Wear The Future Collective (By Gee x Spectra, Tribe Alive, and Mikage Shin). While some of the presenting designers showcased a smaller collection with a few runway looks; designers like Amnesia and KavenLiu Dimor presented NYFW worthy collections.
Amnesia, founded by Eva Prokai considers her line a fast-fashion brand for the free-spirited women. The Amnesia SS’20 collection is inspired by Prokai’s home, Budapest, Hungary. The Amnesia collection had colors of Hungary’s national flag as well as trendy black and white pieces.
KavenLiu Dimor founded her company, Dimor Culture Communication Co., Ltd in 2017. The company has multiple focuses such as event planning, art curation, and lifestyle apparel packaging. Of the many things Dimor’s company covers is the KavenLiu Dimor apparel brand. The inspiration for KavenLiu Dimour SS’20 collection was making clothing more of an experience for women by using orginal designs. Based in Nanjing, China the collection also uses elements of Chinese clothing.
The second group show featured Gravitas, Planet Zero Motorsports, S’RA, Vitruvius, and L. Catherine London. Gravitas and Planet Zero Motorsports were the standout collections of the show.
Gravitas, founded by Lisa Sun, is an inclusive clothing line with sizes ranging from 0-26W. Aside from being a size inclusive line, some pieces from the Gravitas collection are multi-functional. During the Gravitas runway show we saw the multi-functional aspect of the clothing as one model took off and passed, what seemed to be a gray cardigan,to another model who then flipped it around and in seconds strutting down the runway in a red and blue color block dress.
Planet Zero Motorsports, founded by Kenya Smith, brought motorcycle gear to new heights. The PZM SS’20 collection had a number of extremely bold pieces mixed with stylish leather protective gear pieces. The PZM SS’20 collection is titled “Emancipation”. Smith wanted his collection to send a message to ” Free ourselves from the world that looks to trap us in labels and roles that make anybody but you comfortable and content.”
