The final film of The Hunger Games Franchise looks to end on a high note as we finally see the clash between the 13 Districts and the Capitol.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 was a pretty…okay movie. It may have been because Catching Fire was simply the best film of the franchise or since the film was meant to be more of a propaganda, slow burning type film, but Mockingkay Part 1 just didn’t feel like it had the same high level stakes that we have seen in the previous films. What the first film felt like was a slow, steady build up of what’s to come in Mockingjay Part 2, and that’s not a bad thing at all! It just means that Mockingjay Part 2 has to hold up its end of the bargain and be the huge success that Lionsgate thinks it could be.
If this trailer is any indication, the gamble Lionsgate has made will be worth it. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 brings back the high level stakes by basically making them as high as they could possibly be for these characters. It’s not more of just 24 people fighting in an arena for their lives, it’s the lives of everyone in the 13 Districts fighting for what they believe is right against President Snow and the Capitol. Francis Lawrence looks to be bringing back the high energy thrills and action people loved in Catching Fire while still being able to balance the solid story that we’ve been watching unfold on screen.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is directed by Francis Lawrence, written by Danny Strong and Peter Craig, and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutchinson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Jena Malone, Sean Claflin, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Natalie Dormer, and Willow Shields. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be in theaters November 20, 2015.
