On September 8, nine young designers from around the country showcased their individual collections at New York Fashion Week.
Adrian Escoto, Bianca Zidik, Devon Pezzano, Esther Ashiru, Julissa Arrington, Maria D’Ocon, Melody Hernandez, Mimmy Begazo, and René Mejia all stunned the audience at one of the biggest stages of fashion this year at Moynihan Station. The creatives debuted varied looks inspired from a wide array of cultural and imaginative backgrounds.
Some collections like Escoto’s denim patchwork displayed contemporary pieces while others, like Arrington, showed avant garde tastes with deconstructive garments made from silk and linen. Overall the standout collection voted by the audience was René Mejia’s collection featuring a pastel nude color palette and a mix of masculine and feminine silhouettes that made for a unanimous rating.
After the show, we stopped by Concept Korea’s seasonal afterparty at the Hotel Americano rooftop. The late night event included an open bar, poolside drinks, and charcuterie platters and light bites satisfying the humid New York heatwave.
