All good things unfortunately must come to an end and on February 6 attendees of the 4th Annual Mammoth Film Festival had to say goodbye to the breathtaking scenes of Mammoth Lakes, but not before the final day of premieres, a mixer and closing ceremony.
The fourth and final day of the film festival comprised of a variety of feature film and narrative short premieres as well as the debut of the music video category. Artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, Trevor Jackson of Grown-ish and Katie Welch were amongst those that were selected to share their work. The brand new category was judged by award winning director, Andrew Sandler. The festival, founded by Tanner Beard and Tomik Mansoori with Exec Director Alex Chando, was presented this year by Marina Studios, Compelling Pictures, plus partners Resorts World Las Vegas, Mou Boots and PATH Water.
In addition to the screenings the Her Voice: Groundbreaking Women Give Back mixer in its third year brought out a new group of women to the stage to share their experiences in the entertainment industry. Unlike past years, this year each panelist was paired up with a select female filmmaker for a one-on-one mentorship session. Her Voice, aware that filmmaking is still very much a “man’s world” strives to push the needle forward for female filmmakers with actionable steps and mentorship. Female director, Eva Dolezalova doesn’t let the lack of women in the industry bother her, instead she chooses to focus on what excites her about filmmaking stating, “the beauty of just creating something from scratch is indeed my favorite part of the whole process.”
To wrap up yet another eventful and successful Mammoth Film Festival, guests, filmmakers, panelists, and actors headed to Canyon Lodge at Mammoth Mountain for the closing night gala and awards ceremony. The film festival was the very first festival ever to do an NFT award, setting a precedent for future film festivals. Every winner received an NFT minted version of the festival award thanks to festival partner THiNK:NFT founded by Pink Floyd’s Scott Page. The NFT is a 3-D graphic image of the signature Mammoth ice mountain award on a film reel, and they were the first festival to stream in the Metaverse. The entire awards ceremony can be watched in the Metaverse via Spatial.io Metaverse platform and IN.LIVE now streaming. The closing ceremony led with Emile Hirsch for Best Actor and Immaculate Room for Best Feature starring Emile Hirsch, Ashley Greene-Khoury and Kate Bosworth, produced by Joel David Moore, Grand Jury award to Bosch & Rockit starring Luke Hemsworth, Best short went to The Boys directed by Luke Benward, produced by Ariel Winter and Sterling Beaumon among many others, Nina Dobrev won for best Director, and Best Documentary went to the Shania Twain narrated film For Love.
