From the interior and exterior decor to the perfectly seasoned food, Ten Hope is a must try for any occasion
Ten Hope is the latest addition to the wide variety of restaurants within Williamsburg. However, there are a few things that takes Ten Hope above and beyond the traditional eatery, one of which being that Top Chef winner and consulting chef Harold Dieterle is the mastermind behind the kitchen.
Upon first entering, people will definitely be impressed. The interior of Ten Hope is chic and elegant, but also very modern and crisp. The concept of having the kitchen be at the very front and having it be open to peak through was a very interesting, and very cool concept that I wouldn’t have expected to happen anywhere. But it isn’t only about the interior that is cool, but they exterior of Ten Hope might be even cooler. The outdoor section is a giant patio with comfy couches and seats arranged in a way where it doesn’t feel crowded and where guests can really take in the décor. Foliage is spread all across the venue and makes this space feel very airy and have a great energy about it. This is definitely a nice place to go for a casual dine out all the way to a space where you can impress a date at.
The menu features Mediterranean inspired food, taking flavors profiles from Greece, Italy, Spain, and Morocco. On top of the food being amazing, Ten Hope’s drinks are also top notch, pairing really well with the spice infused food options. Ten Hope’s menu features shareable plates such as smashed avocado with feta cheese, green zhug, and pita chips; seared holloumi cheese salad; and spice roasted local carrots with squid ink ricotta. For the main course, Ten Hope features dishes such as crispy octopus; crispy lamb ribs; seared diver scallops; and a kofta burger. Our favorites were definitely the smashed avocado and the hummus that you can share with everyone. Not only was the hummus seasoned really well but the pita chips served with it were seasoned with this amazing mixture that added a lot of spice to the dish. Definitely one of the tastier hummus plates out there. And as far as main dishes go, our favorite was hands down the crispy lamb rubs with cumin. This lamb rib is still on the bone but as soon as you put it in your mouth, it practically melts off the bone and onto your tongue. The seasoning goes above and beyond to spice up the lamb but also keep the nature flavors in the lamb present. We could not stop eating it when those samples were coming around.
Ten Hope’s cocktails are a must go to as well. We sampled a variety of their signature drinks and one drink that you must go for is the Eloquence made with Ford’s Gin, Cocchi Americano Bianco, citrus, and aquafaba. This drink really brings the natural flavors of gin to the forefront but takes away the burn of it. The Americano Bianco adds a subtle bitterness to the drink which is a welcome seeing as it is paired with the citrus which adds a little brightness and acidity to it. And we always welcome aquafaba as it adds this fluffiness and creaminess to the drink that smoothens out the flavors throughout each sip. Another favorite we had was the Admiral Rye which is made with Old Overhold Rye, Yellow Chartreuse, and lavender. A simple drink but a go to if you are a rye drinker. The drink itself holds true to the rye flavor, but adds a bit of fragrance and florals for the other ingredients, creating this nice balance to the drink. Another good mention is the Ten Hope Hopeful Sodas which are low calorie spiked sodas made with no added sugars or sweeteners. We tried the Tequila Girlfriend and enjoyed it a lot, having the tequila flavor come forward first and then having the hint of grapefruit come sneak in at the end.
Whenever you get the chance, go on over to Williamsburg to try out Ten Hope. Whether it’s just for drinks or having a full meal, you will be sure to enjoy every bit of your time there.
