Ahead of their forthcoming studio release: I Am The Moon.
Tedeschi Trucks is a conglomeration the Derek Trucks Band (led by slide guitarist/songwriter Derek Trucks, nephew of Butch Trucks, original drummer of The Allman Brothers Band) and members of singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi’s band. They are a blues rock group with a distinct roots-oriented sound.
Susan Tedeschi’s skill as a guitarist is matched by her songwriting ability. An emotional singer delivering vocals that are a synthesis of power, warmth and precision, evoking Bonnie Raitt or Big Mama Thornton. Together with Derek Trucks, the band has enjoyed a highly dedicated following. It is the kind of passionate fanbase that developed around the huge success of groups like The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd and –yes– The Allman Brothers. To witness them, is to witness a band on its course to achieving legendary status.
Their appearance this spring at The Capitol Theatre is followed by their upcoming release, I Am The Moon, due out May 31, 2022. The album is their fifth studio endeavor. New Yorkers will again have a chance to see Tedeschi Trucks rock the city with their 11-piece band in a groove-centered roadshow when they return to the Beacon Theatre for their annual weeklong residency in early fall. Monday, October 3rd will mark the band’s 50th show at the NYC venue.
