The latest show from the Roundabout Theatre Company will feature Keira Knightley, Gabriel Ebery, Judith Light, and Matt Ryan in the play adaptation of Emile Zola’s novel of the same name, Therese Raquin. Adapted for the theater by Helen Edmundson and directed by Evan Cabnet, the play will officially open on October 29 and will be on a limited engagement through January 3 at Studio 54.
While this is her Broadway debut, Knightley will play Therese, a young woman who is forced to stand by the side of her selfish husband, played by Ebert. Light will star as her mother in law, causing her a great ordeal of stress, all until she meets her husband’s childhood friend Laurent, played by Ryan. The two have a passionate affair until they are caught, and must deal with the dreary consequences thereafter.
With Todd Haimes acting as Artistic Director of the Roundabout Theatre Company, this will be part of the celebration of the company’s fiftieth anniversary. The play will run Tuesday through Saturdays with showings at 8 PM, and there will be a 2 PM matinee performance on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition to this play, the fiftieth anniversary season includes the following plays: Old Times (starring Clive Owen, Eve Best, and Kelly Reilly), Noises Off (starring Jeremy Shamos, Daniel Davis, Megan Hilty and more), She Loves Me (starring Jane Krakowski, Zachary Levi, Gavin Creel and more), Long Day’s Journey Into Night (starring Gabriel Byrne, Jessica Lange, Michael Shannon and more) and more.
