Urban Stages was founded to support playwrights in developing and showcasing new work. They now also work to increase access to the arts. Their mainstage program supports artists and presents acclaimed plays and musicals Off-Broadway.
Urban Stages, under the direction of Frances Hill, works to discover new artists and their works. They also have an outreach program that presents free plays and workshops throughout the five boroughs. The presentation, Dynamic Duos – Double Bill, showcases two plays that were selected from over 300 submissions. The comedy, The Audit, and the drama, The American Dream, are very different works that highlight the power and talents of new and upcoming writers and actors.
What do you make of a play that doesn’t know who its audience is?
You know that whole scandal? You know, the one where that CEO of that company did a bunch of heinous things? And how he basically is under fire for sexual harassment charges?
