The iconic performer also issues a challenge to other businesses to join Google.org in investing in excellence through education.
Β Google.org has matched theΒ $100,000Β grant Beyoncé announced last week, which will enable four additional HBCUs to receiveΒ $25,000Β scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year. The schools chosen areΒ Texas Southern University, located in BeyoncΓ©’s home city,Β Houston,Β Fisk UniversityΒ inΒ Nashville, Tennessee, the alma mater of her father,Β Mathew Knowles,Β GramblingΒ State UniversityΒ inΒ Grambling, LouisianaΒ andΒ Morehouse CollegeΒ inΒ Atlanta, Georgia. HBCUs are institutions of higher education inΒ the United StatesΒ that were established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 with the intention of primarily serving the African-American community.
