This weekend we were inside the 17th annual Primary Wave Grammy Pre-Party in partnership with Billboard, to celebrate Billboard No. 1s. Primary Wave is an independent publisher, home of some of the most legendary artists, songwriters, and labels in the history of music. This roster includes Sun Records, Bob Marley, Fantasia, Stevie Nicks, Smokey Robinson, Whitney Houston, Prince, and more. The event was held at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, this year’s official hotel for the Grammys, and featured an energetic DJ set from Grammy Award-winning artist CeeLo Green. Green paid tribute to Primary Wave’s legendary roster and catalog that’s said to have over 800 Top 10 singles and over 400 #1 hits and had guests on the dancefloor all night long.
The celebration was sponsored by McIntosh, Morgan Stanley Global Sports & Entertainment, and Iron Mountain Entertainment Services.
Some of the most iconic faces were in the building like Smokey Robinson, GrandMaster Flash, Johnny Gill, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell, James Charles, Gavin Rossdale, Pat Hudson, Eric Benét, Jon B, Faouzia, Armani White, LU KALA, Fifth Harmony alums Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane, Domani Harris, Lauren Spencer Smith, Melissa Etheridge, and Linda Wallem.
It was a night to remember and the perfect way to celebrate music and the contribution that Primary Wave’s roster has made to the history of music. We’re expecting them to continue to make note-worthy contributions and waves in the industry and we’re really excited for next year’s celebration.
