Dirty Pineapple established itself as a messenger of forward-thinking at Spring Studios during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) with their soon-to-release ‘The New Street’ collection.
In one of the most competitive industries and Cities, Virgin Islands designer Garcia has shown the big apple why she was the break out star of NYFW. Arega’s “Joy” exhibit showcased dazzling handcrafted glamor and texture, that took the City’s breath away! On September 10th Arega’s Joy installation took place at the intimate Pergola hookah bar on 28th st in lower Manhattan. Resembling her Island, Pergola’s roof and walls were covered in faux vines, flowers, and grass, perfect for the showcase Garcia imagined. The lights were dim and the wooden stairs lead up into the 1st gallery, and a connecting bridge to Gallery 2.
Son Jung Wan just might have had the best runway show this season. It was graceful, technical, cohesive…but there was also another quality, something otherworldly, that permeated the stage at Spring Studios.
Essence Magazine put on a beautiful display of black excellence, black pride, and black unity at its inaugural Best in Black Fashion Awards.
‘RHOBH’ Takes Over NYFW
Unilever’s Hair Expert, Ursula Stephens lead the TRESemmé hairstyling team backstage for Studio 189 SS20′ NYFW show. Studio 189’s collection titled “Heritage” was not only inspired by African clothing but also is made in Africa. The brands ss20′ runway show was a beautiful presentation of African culture mixed with high fashion.
Essence is so much more than just a magazine for black women. Essence has become the number one media, technology, and commerce company for black women to date. This year Essence held their Essence Fashion House in NYC at Affirmation Arts, to continue the celebration of the first Essence Best in Black Fashion Awards. Essence Fashion House brought together black designers, stylists, influencers, and fashions lovers for an all-day fashion extravaganza. During the day-long event, guests were apart of panel discussions, a master class, and runway shows.
This past Sunday NYFW held “China Day” as a tribute to the bustling Chinese fashion industry and to showcase Chinese brands that are making waves. LILY and XU ZHI had their shows back to back at Spring Studios, and showed off their Spring/Summer 2020 collections that both held unique and cohesive themes.
