On Monday, September 9th, four Indonesian designers presented at Spring Studios for the Indonesian Diversity SS20’ NYFW runway show. 2Madison Avenue, Ayumi, Julianto, and Yogiswarti brought Indonesian high fashion to NYFW.
2Madison Avenue by, Maggie Hutauruk returned for a second season with an 80’s rock-n-roll inspired collection. Hutauruk’s is known for using traditional and locally made Indonesian fabrics for her artsy, chic, and modern fashion designs. The 2Madison Avenue Spring/Summer 20’ collection is filled with bright colors and prints. Many of the pieces from the collection are bold with ruffles and unstructured shapes.
Julainto’s Spring/Summer SS20’ collection was a gorgeous display of eveningwear., eyewear, and accessories Julianto was educated, mastered fashion and pattern making in Milan, Italy where he received his masters from Istituto di Mood Burgo. If there were one word to describe for Julainto’s collection, it would be elegant. The Julianto collection SS20’ showcased his talent for intricate and unique beadwork.
Yogiswari Pradjanti is an up and coming Indonesian designer. She’s known for using digital printing techniques and character illustrations on fabrics. The Spring/Summer 20’ collection has big apple-themed and poppy prints. Yogiswari Pradjanti’s collection consisted of colorful and vibrant dresses and separates ready for spring.
Ayumi by designer Marina Christyani is the owner of a womenswear designer. Christyani is excited to introduce the Ayumi Fashion Brand to a global audience with her NYFW runway show. Ayumi’s Spring/Summer SS20’ is a collection of seamlessly tailored special occasion pieces. The collection blush and beige tones are complimented shimmery golds. The elegant formalwear pieces are made of silk, chiffon, and embroidered textiles.
