This past Thursday, September 7th at the Bing Theater at LACMA in Los Angeles, Film Independent held a screening of the first two episodes of One Mississippi’s second season.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will be opening its doors for leaders in the film, art, fashion, and entertainment industries for a night honoring entertainment legends.
This weekend, Gucci presented the fifth annual LACMA Art+Film Gala. For the past five years, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s has hosted the gala to bring to light innovators both in the art and film world who have created influential work. Leonardo DiCaprio and trustee Eva Chow were both co-chair, along with Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Creative Director as the Gala Host Committee Chair. Not only did Gucci partake in planning the LACMA Art+Film Gala, but the house also dressed an impressive number of actresses and celebrities, including Eva Chow, Dakota Johnson, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The honorees this year were filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu and artist James Turrell.
Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director, said:
“In only a few years, LACMA’s Art+Film Gala has established its reputation for honoring artists and filmmakers whose impact can be felt worldwide and that have particular relevance to Los Angeles, and James Turrell and Alejandro G. Iñárritu certainly fit that bill. In the last two decades, Iñárritu has displayed a daring and nimble vision for films including Birdman and Babel; his work has rightly garnered the highest of critical acclaim. I have known James Turrell for many years and am honored to have co-curated his recent retrospective, which started at LACMA and has traveled the world. “
