This is what a partnership between tech giant Samsung and movie studio Lionsgate looks like, and it’s awesome.
Among the many things the Hunger Games film franchise has going for it is the immersive and layered world it’s based it. With the final installment of the series coming out November 20, it’ll be be our last glimpse into their world. But, before then, thanks to an interesting partnership between Samsung and Lionsgate, we’ll get another chance before the film comes out in November to explore and look around. The partnership looks to expand the world of the Hunger Games and with exclusive content and state-of-the-art virtual reality technology.
From October 2nd to the 4th, fans were able to check out a never-before-seen final trailer on the Galaxy Tab S2, get a sneak peek at an immersive The Hunger Games virtual reality experience with Samsung Gear VR and check out the exclusive new Mockingjay app. From October 9th to 11th, fans were in for a real treat when they were given the chance to test drive Samsung new virtual reality themselves, in the world of the Hunger Games.
Using the Samsung Gear VR headset, you could experience a 6-minute, 360-degree immersive journey through some of the defining moments of The Hunger Games film franchise. Virtual Reality and exclusive trailers isn’t where the partnership’s perks end, as they will be presenting a Hunger Games tribute awards where fans can vote in a variety of categories such as Best Film Parody Video and Best Fan Costume.
The franchise’s most loyal fans will be acknowledged at the culmination of the Tribute Awards on October 31. If you’re not only a fan of the Hunger Games but also a Samsung costumer, you might be able to land a spot in Samsung’s fan bleacher at the film’s gala premiere in Los Angeles. It has never been a better time to be a fan.
Also, a new trailer was released for Mockingjay Part 2. Entitled “Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games,” it features . . .well, any and everything you could think of seeing in the final film. While the first trailer, released earlier this summer called “We March Together” has racked up over 14 million views, this clip has gotten almost two million views in a few days.
