This is a film that will touch you in more ways than one.
On Tuesday, December 13th, late night show host Stephen Colbert hosted a cocktail reception party at MEGU for the new documentary, Life, ANIMATED. The film’s director and Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams attended the party alongside celebrities such as Julie Taymor, Gilbert Gottfried, Jonathan Freeman, Tituss Burgess, Stone Phillips, George Stroumboulopoulos, Maria Cuomo Cole and Marina Rust Connor. The party had an open bar with its featured cocktail being a drink made up of Hendricks fin, lime juice, basic leaves, and cucumber. Hors d’oeuvres were being served around the party which included items such as spicy tuna rolls and vegetable dumplings.
During the party, Colbert made a short speech about how “funny, smart, witty, and beautiful,” this documentary is. He said that the story behind the documentary is extremely moving and impactful and made him ask the question, “what constitutes a meaningful life and who deserves to have it?”
Life, ANIMATED follows the Suskind family. Owen, their youngest son has Autism and cannot speak as a child. However, he finds a unique way to communicate with people using the world of classic Disney animated films. This film follows Owen throughout many important stages of his life from childhood all the way to his graduation into adulthood. Life, ANIMATED is based on the best-selling book by Ron Suskind.
