Last Thursday, Spotify hosted Lauv’s album release party at National Sawdust. The intimate setting provided a lot of what felt like personal time with Lauv for an hour as he serenaded the crowd with the acoustic versions of his own songs.
Since 2016, the pop star has been putting out hit after hit, finding his own sound and really utilizing it. With over 29 Million monthly listeners and 2 million followers, he has really found a way to connect to fans unlike any other pop star right now.
Everyone had a great time that night, which was hosted at National Sawdust with free drinks and snacks all night long. The space was also very intimate with Lauv upfront and center within hugging distance, which he acknowledged, and was loving it the entire time.
Lauv’s heartfelt, stripped-down acoustic set included hits “fuck, I’m lonely” and “Tattoos Together,” and he shared that he “made this album because for a really long time I was boxed into one version of who I was. A lot of times we make ourselves one-dimensional so people can consume who we are, but we’re so much more complicated than that. This album was born to show all the aspects of who I am.”
His best moment came at the end of the night when he sang his most popular hit “I Like Me Better,” which had the crowd singing along loudly.
Overall, the show was one of the smaller events I have been to, but one of the most uplifting. Lauv’s latest release proves that he is more than a pop star, and is willing to both connect with his fans, and show them he’s there for them.
