Attending the S/S17 collection for Son Jung Wan was definitely a sight for sore eyes. As she would say herself, βEveryone has their own nostalgic momentsβ and this 70βs inspired show was definitely one of mine.
Tasteful and full of flare, each piece was synonymous to the flamboyant styles of the time period. Each piece utilized different fabrics and textures which created distinct, yet simple looks. She utilized tweeds, sequins, floral patterns and various stripes that all came together nicely with the vivid colors that were used in each piece. The colors were funky and also added to the liveliness of each design, with: red, pink, violet, emerald green, white, rose, and a metallic blue.
There was even 70βs themed music playing in the background as each model graced the runway wearing these elaborate pieces. The music was enough to keep everyone interested on itβs own as you could see most of the heads in the crowd bobbing to the beat. The vibe was so disco that it would have been very hard to not enjoy the presentation as a whole unless the designs were just completely bad, which they werenβt in any way.
Each model wore foxy eye shadows with bouncy hair, afros and diagonal braids. The hair was done byΒ L’anza Healing Haircare’sΒ Jorge Luis who wanted to emphasize the organic process of the hair styling used to give each model the perfect texture. The show ended with a model who danced down the runway and who also had the biggest and most natural hair of the night. As she danced down the runway the crowd couldnβt help but to clap and cheer the model on. Every part of the show came together perfectly and Son Jung wan received the love and praise she deserved during the finale of her S/S17 β70βs Momentsβ.
