The two day Spring pop-up event featured unlimited craft drinks, photo-ops, a nailbar, tarot reading, treats, and more!
During the Spring season, many businesses gear up to participate in pop-up shops. Hosted by ‘Sip Shop Eat, this year’s pop-up event featured a variety of small businesses ranging from food, drinks, lifestyle, and jewelry. The immersive brand has been spotlighting small businesses since 2017. The atmosphere of the pop-up felt very hospitable. All venders near one another have been supporting, spreading joy, and just delighted to be there. But what are the stories of some of these vendors we’ve met?
“Our story is a very simple one.” Says owner AJ James of Coquito Rico Beverage. “We were buying coquito every holiday season from a really sweet Puerto Rican auntie.” says James. After her aunt retired and moved back home, she’s decided to pick up on creating the sweet dessert beverage. After perfecting the recipe and creating an assortment of additional flavors, the business is ran by AJ and her husband, and is officially coined “the best coquito in the Tri-state area.”
4/20 is always an anticipated time of year, and cannabis accessory maker, Ashley knew that with her business, it caters to every cannabis smoker’s desires. “We have everything from tin trays, honeys, sugars, you name it, we got it!” She says ecstatically. In the business for two years, she’s done festivals, pop-ups, street fairs, expos, all of New York City, the Tri-state, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
One baker has decided it was time to take her baking experience and expand. “I’ve been baking for over 14 years and in the past year in the half, I have decided that it’s time for me to share my talent with the massive.” Says, Ayanna Avant, owner of Cakes Ki Makes. Ayanna specializes in an assortment of baked goodies from apple, banana, peach, lemon, red velvet, chocolate, strawberry cheesecake, etc. She also specializes in custom cake designs. So for every sweet tooth out there, this is a dream come true!
For other vendors, they felt nothing but gratitude being apart of this pop-up. “I really like this event because the people here are very positive and have great energy. Says Maiko Oba, owner of Malpha Jewelry. What started as a hobby two years ago, became a legitimate business for Oba. The beautiful handmade jewelry features necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. Malpha Jewelry has also been featured on Harper’s Bazaar Vietnamese Magazine.
In the spirit of positivity, one brand has created clothing dedicated to channeling this. Four years as a brand centered around positivity and unity is the true foundation of Zilla868. “When there’s so much going on, we also try to teach our younger generation about our founding founders, people who’ve paved the way for us in life like Mandela and Ghandi”. Zilla868 owner, Natalie Calderon shares. The clothing brand specializes in graphic tees, hoodies, accessories, etc.
For this vendor, she’s celebrating her first pop up with ‘Sip Shop Eat, with her home and lifestyle brand Homie. The brand is a compilation of all of the things that make you feel at home.”This is my first pop up. I’ve been selling online mainly.” Says Katherine Heil, owner of the brand. “It’s really nice! It’s been a really great turnout to be here with ‘Sip Shop Eat”. Despite feeling nervous at first, Katherine expresses how everyone has been so nice and encouraging, making her definitely want to be apart of a pop-up event in the future.
