The unapologetically blunt judge we all grew to love and hate is making a major return to television.
Cowell formed the Got Talent series back in 2006 as a co-creator and executive producer; although, he still holds that title, he will addanother as the series’ newest judge of America’s Got Talent. Cowell is reportedly replacing radio host, Howard Stern for the show’s 11th season. He will judge along with Mel B, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum. Nick Cannon will continue as host.
“This felt like the perfect timing, and it’s been a lot of fun,” Cowell said to reporters at NBC’s Summer Press Tour. “It was worth the wait to come back to this.”
Since American Idol is coming to a close and in it’s final season, it is exciting that Cowell will return to the small screen as a judge. As the originator of not so pleasant critiques, America misses his honesty and sense of humor. Hopefully Cowell will bring something nostalgically fresh to the new season.
“You have a reputation that precedes you. It is more fun than we have ever had in the history of this show, ” Mandel told Cowell. “We didn’t know that you were going to enjoy yourself so much. If we’re all enjoying ourselves, we feel like we’re at the best party in the world.”
The top-rated summer series will return Tuesday, May 31.
