What other cocktail festival that you know is Farm-To-Bar?
Last week, Secret Summer returned to celebrate the country’s only Farm-To-Bar cocktail festival. The event was hosted once again at The Foundry, which is a beautiful and chic location in Long Island City. This Secret Summer event featured some of the most unique food and drink mixes along with a beautiful scenery to really enjoy the peak of summer.
This Secret Summer cocktail event showcased some of the most delicious spirits such as Aldez Tequila, Westward Whiskey, Aperol Spritz, The Long Drink, and much more. Each vendor had its own unique story on how it started, where they wanted the drink to go, and talked about the ingredients that went into each drink. And guests even enjoyed their drinks with HAY! Straws which are made from natural wheat stems and are completely biodegradable.
One of our favorite drinks from this event was called The Long Drink. This drink is originally from Finland and has a rich history of how it was created. This drink is actually made up from a combo of gin and grapefruit and tastes so refreshing and not too sweet where it hurts. They actually just released a version of The Long Drink with zero sugar. And the thing they pride themselves with is that their zero sugar drink tastes exactly like their original (which is does!!). And what is a cocktail party without a good old Aperol Spritz. This drink has made waves throughout the USA and has been one of the most dividing drinks of this summer. I am not really an Aperol Spritz kind of person but this drink changed my mind. I think it was the fresh ingredients that this one was made with because you can definitely taste the difference between this and something you get at any sort of bar. Needless to say, the drink options at this Secret Summer event was diverse and delicious.
And along with the drinks, some of the tasty food options available were Crazy Taco Mex, Cash Only BBQ, Nansense NYC, and Tipsy Scoop. Our favorite was definitely the Tipsy Scoop. On a hot summer day like this one, it was a great treat to have some ice cream and get drunk at the same time. Their ice creams are smooth, refreshing, and delicious. So the fact that it has alcohol in it too is the cherry on top.
All in all, this Secret Summer event was a blast. Each year, they step up their game with inviting vendors that are reinventing what a cocktail is. And you can definitely taste the quality of ingredients in the drink as everything is Farm-To-Bar. Be sure to check out the next Secret Summer event because it is definitely not something you want to miss.
