Last Friday, The Knockturnal attended UNIQLO’s SUPERGEOMETRIC Launch Party on 5th Ave.

Inspired by works from the Museum of Modern Art, UNIQLO’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection is a continuation of their SPRZ NY (Surprise New York) line. The collection, available in stores March 3rd, features graphics and reprints from talented artists such as Sol LeWitt, Josef Albers, Francois Morellet, Grego and Max Bill.

Ruth Shapiro, MoMA’s Retail Director of Sales and Business Development said, “MoMA is focused on helping a broad audience understand and enjoy the art of our time, and the partnership with UNIQLO supports that mission.” The classic SPRZ tees have been reimagined into jumpsuits, dresses, totes, accessories and much more and includes 36 Men’s and 32 Women’s items. Geometric shapes and lines are the focus of this collection along with bold patterns on classic silhouettes. The SPRZ NY collection will also continue to feature classics like Andy Warhol and Jean Basquiat.

Along with the launch last Friday, UNIQLO’s Fifth Ave. location also featured an original in store installation by Sigrid Calon. The party itself was a fun affair with  good music, complimentary drinks, food, photo booths and goodie bags carrying new SUPERGEOMETRIC hats and totes. Special guests included Taryn Manning, Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor, Waris Ahluwalia, Sigrid Calon, Christina Caradona, Preston Konrad, Christie Ferrari, Marcel Floruss, Rachel Martino, Kristin Gallegos, and Luanna Perez amongst others. Taryn, Atlanta, Waris, Christina, Preston, and Luanna who were all modeling the new collection.
