Talbot’s Runhof showcased his Spring/Summer Collection titled, “Flowers Never Fail You” at Paris Fashion Week on September 30.
The bright, bold floral collection brought out serious 70s’ vibes with sequins, rhinestones, pinstripes and tulle. All the garments had a sharp fluidity that flowed so effortlessly as models swayed down the runway. Flowers being the highlighting motif represented through embroidered daisies, cotton poplin and twill presented in garments that radiated with true vibrant color. Runhof aimed for his collection to be a realm of positive light in an atmosphere revolving around a rough political climate. His overall message: “create love not war. stay strong. be cool. and if it’s too loud, turn it up.”
We discussed the makeup look with Mac Cosmetics lead artist, Romero Jennings and he spoke about the inspiration.
“So Talbot was saying that he really wanted to have fun this season, so the inspiration was sort of 70’s but with a bit of a modern twist to it. We decided to use color because of course it’s Spring. So when you think of Spring you think about fun, you think about color, and then to sort of like balance it out, because it’s a big glitter moment that’s happening right now in makeup, we decided to add some shimmer to it. But the main thing about it is that the makeup is left imperfect, it’s not even, it’s not symmetrical but at the same time on the runway you see the impact, you see the color and you see the shine. I wanted the team to have fun with the make up but also look at the girl and create from that point on. We have a neutral lip, because of course if we have one point which is very strong, which is the eye today we neutralize the lip and then we are reintroducing the cheeks because cheeks have been lost for a couple of years now, so we’re bring it back. So the girls look very fresh and young and the cheeks help to bring that sort of 70’s vibe back too. A lot of mascara top and Bottom and that’s basically it. Overall, super simple, really clean skin and a fun make up.
