Omega has ushered a new era in watchmaking with the launch of the brand-new Globemaster technology. We stopped in to the private preview event on a sunnyTuesday evening. Check out our notes from the event!
There’s literally nothing quite like a Globemaster watch. This incredible advancement in timepiece complication apparently modifies physics by desensitizing the timepiece to outside magnets, which are notorious for demagnetizing watches and causing them to run slow. The Globemaster technology prevents this. In the chic new Omega boutique in Brookfield Place in Battery Park City, Bollinger was on pour and experts on Omega timepieces were available to guests learning about the Omega brand and the Globemaster technology. A master watchmaker demonstrated the technology as an Omega executive waxed poetic about the huge modernization Omega has undertaken, the first in the industry. Guests were able to explore and experience the brand firsthand, and see how dynamic and fashionable Omega has become, counting stars like Eddie Redmayne and George Clooney as fans.
Globemaster technology isn’t a gimmick- it is significant, as the Swiss-made movements are the only on earth to be certified chronometers, the rare distinction since before now, demagnetization was not possible.
Globemaster technology will find its way into many Omega timepieces as the year goes on. Starting options are for the sporty and chic, a highly functional piece that accents the tradition and contemporary elegance of Omega. Omega timepieces are revered for their intelligent, state of the art advancements as well as their dynamic and timeless designs. An Omega timepiece is a great first investment watch, and doubly so with the launch of the Globemaster technology. Starting at $8,000, topping out at over $40,000 with customization. Limited runs. www.omega.com
