On Thursday March 9, fashionistas and art lovers alike made their way to the Manhattan corner of 89th Street. and 5th Ave.
The address, recognizable by any New Yorker, is of course the Guggenheim Museum; and on Thursday it played host to a celebration honoring 20 years of the Young Collectors Council.
The annual party (aka #YCCParty) began with an intimate dinner in the museum’s The Wright restaurant.
After the dinner, guests made their way to the rotunda – one stunning dress and bow time at a time – to celebrate art the way New Yorkers do. With a lot champagne.
But not just champagne. Support for the #YCCParty was provided by Grey Goose. As were the evening’s specialty cocktails which included the L’espresso Martini. The classic French drink paired beautifully with the pistachio and chocolate macaroons served later in the evening.
The party featured a DJ set by Ryan McNamara, who in all fairness, is much more of an artist and dancer than DJ. Perhaps that’s why he was joined by two male dancers rocking out like nobody was watching and wearing nothing more than bedazzled underwear.
We’re pretty sure we spotted a few ladies sticking dollar bills down you-know-where.
Hey, if it makes for a good Snapchat, we’re in total approval.
Guests were also treated to intimate performances by Kim Brandt, FlucT, Sam Roeck, and Quenton Stuckey.
Since 1996, the YCC has acquired over 140 works of art for the museum’s permanent collection. Money raised from the #YCCParty benefits the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and supports emerging and established artists.
As the party drew closer to it’s end, guests were allowed to filter through the museum taking in the works of Picasso and Cézanne. Champagne in hand, of course.
