Runa Ray makes her debut at New York Fashion Week with her SS18 Collection.
With numerous natural catastrophes in the past few days, the environment has been on everyone’s minds. Such was the case for Runa Ray’s SS18 presentation that was held at the The Gallery at the Dream Downtown.
Titling her collection, Imagine, Runa Ray sent ultra feminine, nature inspired pieces down the runway. The collection featured hand woven fabrics like silk and bamboo cottons dyed with natural dyes such as pomegranate peels and areca nut. The loose, airy pieces were in shades of ivory with floral and leaf motifs. The collection featured both men’s and women’s pieces.
Ray drew gasps from the audience when she sent her closing piece down the runway, The Bleeding Dress. The Dress had “Imagination is the Only Weapon Against Reality” written on its skirt, with the dye running from the embroidered top, creating the illusion of a bleeding dress.
In an interview with Fashion Week Outline, Ray said:
“Together we can preserve our world from ecological squander and quick manner. Trend can be a highly effective tool to educate and press individuals to be part of in preserving and preserving our planet.”
In attendance were Tami Roman, Jazz Anderson, Stephanie Hollman, Danielle Moinet, and Diandra Barnwell.
