The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards were held this past Sunday, in Los Angeles.
Celebs were out and about for the week leading up to the ceremony, celebrating music’s biggest night. Every year, Grammy week presents an array of parties & events. Roc Nation pre-Grammy Brunch was amongst the more highly anticipated events which took place Saturday afternoon in Beverly Hills. This uber exclusive event brought out an abundance of celebrities from Hip-Hop, Pop, Sports and more. Everyone, including Rihanna, Big Sean, Jhené Aiko, Meek Mill, Diddy, DJ Khaled, T.I., June Ambrose, Ella Mai, the Jonas Brothers, Lana Del Rey, Michael Rubin, 21 Savage, Usher, Kevin Hart, and of course the Queen B herself Beyoncé alongside her husband Jay Z joined in on the festivities.
However, before the festivities were underway other Roc Nation Family, Music Reps, and special invited guests gathered 30 mins away at the pre-brunch lounge and red carpet. Many party-goers mixed and mingled, sipping on no other than Dusse while patiently waiting to be chauffeured to the estate. While others hit the red carpet in their finest attire. Most stylish amongst those including, Kerby Jean-Raymond, founder and lead designer of Pyer Moss, Jessie Reyez, Vic Mensa, Moneybagg Yo, Fabolous, Anthony Hamilton, and Chrissy Lampkin accompanied by Jim Jones.
Seeing so many familiar faces together on a beautiful afternoon in Cali felt like one big family reunion. Many others shared that same sentiment. Legendary comedy Dave Chappelle exclaimed Jay-Z “created his own easter.” The incomparable Jon Batiste said “The coming together of all the artist is a beautiful thing. We’re not always in the same room, so it’s an occasion.” Grammy-nominated, Dreamville, Bas proclaimed “We already won. Being here, being together, having our family and friends celebrate this moment is a win in its self.”
Like with any family, when a beloved member passes away, it is heart aching. The absence of their presence is heavily and especially felt during family gatherings. This was definitely the case with the late great Nipsey Hussle on everyone’s mind. The atmosphere was a joyful yet sober. The late rapper also know as Neighborhood Nip was well represented by his survived love and life partner Lauren London and his baby sister Samantha Smith as they attending the brunch. “We all know what he did for the culture, what he brought to the table, and what he did for Hip-Hop.” – Jadakiss “It’s bittersweet as I have vivid memories of a conversation we had at last year’s brunch.” – Joelle James
Hussle was nominated last year: Best Rap Album for his record “Victory Lap”. This year he won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for his single “Racks in the Middle” Feat. Roddy Rich & Hit-Boy. He also won Best Rap/Sung Performance for DJ Khaled’s record “Higher”.
Other top winners for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards were Lizzo, Lil Was X Feat Billy Ray Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Anderson Paak.
