Father Stavros and his grown-up kids Anastasia and Andreas Aktipis are the family trio who are running Butterflied Chicken in midtown Manhattan.
Father Stavros has been in the restaurant industry for years but this is the first time he’s partaking in a family-run restaurant. His background is fine dining and he’s excited to do a fast/casual restaurant alongside his kids. He believes it’s more “comfortable” to work with family and the new place will provide “comfort food” and an “anything goes” mentality.
College student and Stavros’ daughter Anastasia grew up eating pita souvlaki in Greece and it’s the “highlight” for her to have at the new place. She’s looking forward to “having everyone in there and filling the place up with music and laughter… and making it a much warmer place.” She’s looking forward to working alongside her family and the restaurant bringing them “closer” being that they’ll spend much more time together since they’re busy with school and responsibilities otherwise.
The restaurant features pint soups, salad bowls, rice bowls, sandwich’s, burgers, chicken-in-the-box, desserts, beers and wines. During the grand opening we listened to soulful Greek music and singing and ate delicious foods. Guests took him oregano, oil, olives and a lemon as a sweet parting gift.
“The Greek-style chicken restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner, including their signature Butterflied Chicken served by the quarter, half and whole chicken. All of the chicken on the menu is grilled or roasted including their chicken chops, skewers of chicken, chicken bites, drums and wings. Vegetarians are quite welcome at Butterflied Chicken, which features an extensive selection of vegetable-focused options like Portobello mushrooms, falafel, a variety of meze dips, power bowls and fresh-market salads. Housemade desserts include Baklava, rice pudding and Portokalopita (Greek orange cake). The restaurant also serves beer, wine, sangria and smoothies.”
