At Lower East Side’s Vandal the classic cognac brand celebrated its day and legacy.
Last night, June 1st, the French brand Rémy Martin hosted an event in celebration of the annual National Cognac Day.
In the lounge of New York Vandal restaurant in attendance were media, film and music professionals, including Orange is the New Black’s Jackie Cruz and Kelly Bensimon. They mingled by the rhythm of house music provided and tasted not one but five signature drinks selected by the brand’s mixologists. Most popular – the Sidecar – was not only connected to this year’s brand’s marketing campaign vehicle but invoke the tradition of most classiest of cocktails. Keeping it simple with a mix of Rémy Martin XO cognac, a splash of lemon juice, Cointreau and a delicate taste of sugar on the rim the Original Sidecar was a perfectly elegant companion for the evening.
The event was highlighted by a surprise performance by Lion Babe. The duo, formed in New York City in 2011, performed songs from their latest album Begin as well as some older tracks from debut Lion Babe. Between the beats produced by Lucas Goodman and Jillian’s sensual dance and deep soul voice, they created a captivating atmosphere. Performing ‘Impossible,’ ‘Don’t Cry,’ and ‘Wonder Woman’ were a perfect addition to the already funk-filled room
