Let’s face it – home systems and appliances are essential in our daily lives.
When something stops working properly, the last thing you want to deal with in the middle of a leaky roof or broken refrigerator is figure out how to pay for the repair or replacement. This is where comedienne Rachel Dratch’s Warrantina comes in.
In the latest American Home Shield ad campaign, Dratch’s character helps debunk the often-complicated process of home warranties with a fresh, comedic twist.
“This character of Warrantina who brings you inner peace about your home just appealed to me comically and then it got all the info out about American Home Shield and what it does and how it can make you feel more serene about your home in case anything goes wrong,” Dratch said.
The warranty company launched a new app that can connect you with an experienced repair technician on a video chat. The experts can walk you through the process of fixing it or tell you what needs to be done next.
“Whenever something breaks, I wish I had a home repair expert right there to check it out before I have to call somebody in and go through all that trouble,” the actress said.
Dratch’s comedic style blends quirky, relatable characters with sharp humor. It helps make her the perfect fit for a campaign that aims to make something as serious as appliance repair funny and entertaining. Her career skyrocketed during her tenure on Saturday Night Live, where she became a fan favorite for her awkward, often exaggerated characters. From her hilarious performance of Debbie Downer to her portrayal of Senator Amy Klobuchar, Dratch brought her unique energy to every sketch. Dratch shared some memories from SNL that fans would be surprised to know.
“It gets written overnight so it’s a very nocturnal schedule,” Dratch said. “Monday night is the pitch meeting and Tuesday night, everything gets written pretty much. You don’t see sunlight for the entire week. The next day, the sketches are picked. It’s a very fast turn around.”
Whether it’s through her deadpan delivery or her over-the-top solutions to minor appliance issues, Warrantina brings a refreshing dose of humor to an often complex topic. It’s a genius move by American Home Shield to bring in Dratch to show how important it is to protect your home — and to do so with a smile.
