This week’s Power Book II: Ghost concluded their second season with one of the most explosive and heartbreaking episodes of the series.
That is because we got three major character deaths that will be a major plot point for the third season. The entire time when Effie and Brayden were with Tariq, I was hoping that he would find out that they were they key people involved with Lauren’s death. As closer as Effie gets to Tariq, the easier that will come out. I can also say the same for Lorenzo and Monet as he accidentally killed Zeke as he thought that it was Mecca entering the plane.
I did like how Mecca’s death was handled. The plan that Tariq set up worked and he even made Cane believe that he was going to kill Lorenzo. But that was a diversion for the actual plan as Monet pulled the trigger. Speaking of Tariq, Michael Rainey Jr.’s performance during this episode of Power Book II: Ghost is the best I’ve seen him in this season. He went from calm and calculated to adapting to the crazy situation of Mecca’s death. All of this while he gets to see his mom again as his younger sister reunited with her. Even though he saw that through the windows of the car, their full reunion is coming!
Everyone including myself thought that Tariq would be found guilty. But because of Brayden, the judge throws the case out. That does not mean it is time to celebrate as officer Blanca Rodriquez returned on Ghost. Blanca is also going to meet Tariq again soon as she will dig deeper to his connection to the murder of Mecca. Another thing to look out for in the next season is Tate’s next political campaign.
This season of Power Book II: Ghost is better than the previous season. As the cast grows with newcomers, the current cast is expanding their stories. It is shows like Power Book II: Ghost where we see a diverse cast put in these situations that tests their loyalty. The fans will keep coming back for more. I cannot wait for this show to return in the fall as the third season began filming this month!
