Pilates, Passion, and Community: How SQLPT Pilates is Elevating Fort Lauderdale’s Wellness Scene This National Wellness Month

As we step into August, National Wellness Month, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how we care for our bodies and minds.

Across the country, more people are turning to holistic movement practices to balance the demands of modern life. Pilates, in particular, continues to rise in popularity, with the Pilates and yoga studio industry in the U.S. now valued at over $12 billion and projected to grow steadily as more people seek mindful movement and stress relief.

One new name adding fresh energy to Fort Lauderdale’s wellness community is SQLPT Pilates, the city’s first mat-based Pilates studio. At the heart of SQLPT is founder Elena Duni, whose inspiring story mirrors the very essence of wellness: transformation, resilience, and connection.

Raised between Miami and the lakeside town of Ohrid, Macedonia, Duni carries with her the work ethic of her immigrant parents and the European mindset of slowing down to savor life’s moments. Before Pilates, she spent over a decade climbing the ranks in luxury retail, managing teams for brands like Michael Kors and LVMH. But despite the glamour and corporate success, something was missing.

That missing piece appeared in an unexpected place. While visiting family in Macedonia, Elena’s aunt nudged her to join a local Pilates class. Intimidated at first, Elena returned day after day, her competitive spirit pushing her to master the practice. Within four months, she earned her instructor certification, laying the groundwork for a new career that would change not only her life but the lives of countless clients to come.

Today, SQLPT Pilates, located at 904 N. Flagler Drive, is more than just a studio; it’s a community hub dedicated to mindful movement, breathwork, and deep body awareness. The bright, 900 sq. ft. studio, inspired by Elena’s Macedonian roots, accommodates up to 22 clients per class and welcomes people of all fitness levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, SQLPT offers non-heated mat Pilates classes to help you build strength, reconnect with your body, and quiet the mind, an ideal antidote for today’s always-on culture.

Beyond group classes, SQLPT specializes in personalized sessions for those overcoming injuries, surgeries, or navigating pre- and postnatal care, reinforcing its mission to meet clients where they are in their wellness journeys.

As National Wellness Month reminds us to prioritize self-care, studios like SQLPT are redefining what it means to invest in our well-being. Under Elena’s leadership, SQLPT isn’t just about sculpted cores and flexible spines; it’s about building a community that values slowing down, breathing deeper, and showing up for ourselves and each other.

For those looking to embrace a healthier, more connected lifestyle this month and beyond, SQLPT Pilates stands ready to welcome you with open arms.

Stay connected:

This is just the beginning for SQLPT. With expansion plans underway in Boca and Miami, Elena is creating a new kind of elevated Pilates experience that blends community, culture, and wellness. Want to experience it for yourself? Join Elena Duni of SQLPT Pilates for a signature mat Pilates class at the iconic Faena Hotel Miami. Set against the stunning backdrop of Miami Beach, this energizing outdoor session combines mindful movement with luxury. After class, enjoy wellness activations and an exclusive skincare glow kit provided by Vio Med Spa, curated to restore body and spirit. Tickets are available now on Eventbrite.

Visit sqlptpilates.com for class schedules and updates, and follow @SQLPTPilates and @ElenaDuni__ on Instagram for wellness tips, community events, and inspiration from Elena herself.

This August, take a moment to step onto the mat and step into a stronger, calmer, more resilient you.
