Have you noticed there’s an “emotional incarceration” epidemic running rampant in our world? On Monday June 13th the sold-out red-carpet world premiere of The Cave of Adullam received a standing ovation for its “emotionally transformative” journey!
Jason Wilson, Laurence Fishburne, Laura Checkoway
With testimony, and support from production, and film giants such as, Laurence Fishburne, Laura Checkoway, Jessie Williams, and featured star Jason Wilson. Change is sure to come!
The buoyant, focused, cast, and crew were proud testaments to the need, and importance of a social emotional reform. Specifically, the lack of social emotional dynamics, and acceptance amongst men. Particularly young black men. The Cave of Adullam follows five African Americans teens from Detroit. Recording their struggles to overcome their experiences. In addition to mastering themselves, as they aspire to be initiated into Jason Wilson’s martial arts Academy. All the while Wilson, the emotional expert, accomplished author, White House speaker and volunteer, has admitted to his own misunderstanding of what CARE looks like. Ultimately, how masculinity alone has not been able to provide the nurturing qualities, and impact necessary to change the world, and himself.
Following the red carpet, and premiere was the real treat! A live Q&A panel hosted by Whoopi Goldberg! One of the most recognizable and loved figures in American pop culture! The Q&A was an earnest, compassionate conversation in which Whoopi, Laurence, Laura, and Jason continued to illuminate the dire need for healing this national tragedy by way of processing, and sharing the rough, and raw experiences that produce positive life changing breakthroughs.
Clearly this group of accomplished figures have begun to publicize difficult conversations and show proof of why the hard work is so rewarding. Be sure to continue to follow Laurence Fishburne and Cinema Gypsy productions including their next project with Marvel.
Directed by Academy Award and Emmy nominated filmmaker Lauren Checkoway, the film is produced by Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland of Cinema Gypsy Productions, Banca Studio’s Roy Bank, and Wavelength’s Founder & CEO Jenifer Westphal and President Joe Plummer.
Try to catch up with Jason and his health and wellness gems by buying Battle Cry, and Cry Like a Man. Stay tuned to NBC, and PBS for one of Laura’s countless featured films!
