Last week editors, designers, influencers, and all of the fashion world dumped their quarantine PJs for upscale couture in the name of NYFW. For many, this marked the return to IRL events and lavish after-parties, and the shows did not disappoint. The Knockturnal attended the Nolcha Shows NYFW SS2022 “Ones to Watch” which showcased four brands that epitomize elegance, freedom, and individuality.
On September 12, 2021, Nolcha Shows at New York Fashion Week nodded to resounding themes of Americana emanating from New York City, with their VIP treatment of US military spouses, appearances from Miss USA Asya Branch, Miss Universe Andrea Meza, and Miss World Alissa Anderegg. The show took place at 608 Fifth Avenue and began with the national anthem performance by Army spouse Deidra Lee Stubbs. Four designer brands were then featured on Nolcha’s runway for their “Ones to Watch” showcase: KavenLiu DIMOR SS 2022, The 5th Season SS 2022, KLOVA SS 2022, and KOREANO SS 2022. KavenLiu DIMOR SS 2022
DIMOR designs seek to evoke a sense of belonging and freedom for women while weaving structure and architecture into its feminine elements. This collection in particular places an emphasis on the female form and waistline, ensuring a flattering silhouette complemented by comfortable materials such as silk, hemp, and cotton. The juxtaposition between KavenLiu DIMOR’s femininity and structured, angular elements make for a compelling yet wearable collection.
The 5th Season SS 2022
The 5th Season unconventionally found inspiration for their collection from that of a bird, an animal that represents much of what the brand seeks to convey: “freedom, elegance and rebirth”. The homage to the bird will be seen through the colors, textures, and silhouettes of the designs at The 5th Season.
KLOVA SS 2022
Masters of minimalism reside at Klova; the destination for illustrating the beauty and charm of women in Chinese culture. Woven together with lightness and naturalism, this collection seeks to encourage comfort and peace. The uniqueness at Klova is in the details. The carefully created collection came about through airy, light color and neutrals, and an “elegant voluptuousness” that can seldom be duplicated.
KOREANO SS 2022
KOREANO is reimagining the modern woman’s wardrobe by creating one outfit for any occasion. The brand expresses a commitment to utter self-expression and independence through a curated uniqueness of femininity and strength.
The Nolcha Shows, now in its 14th year, is an award-winning event held during New York Fashion Week to showcase independent and emerging fashion designers to a global audience of press, retailers, stylists and industry influencers.
