Emerging Designer Mashell Goodluck recently unveiled his spring/summer 2022 collection at New York Fashion Week.
The collection debuted at an intimate gathering in New York City hosted by The Knockturnal. The collection, which was displayed virtually, showcased bold men’s and women’s looks with Vincentian fashion references. Mashell Goodluck is well known for his Vincentian looks and often makes homage to his St. Vincent, Caribbean heritage.
During the collection viewing party, guests were treated to select crafted cocktails as well as lime seltzer beverages courtesy of Topo Chico.
Overall, Mashell Goodluck showcased a phenomenal cohesive collection with powerful messages such as “my culture is not for sale.” What made it stand out was the virtual aspect in which Goodluck was able to tell a story with his collection. The story behind the showcase centers around churchgoers from a river village, Bridgetown in the late ’70s to early ’80s.
As each and every look is unveiled in Mashell’s ‘Many Rivers” collection, the bold messaging behind the pieces stands clear with each detailed pattern work and bright colors adorning to West Indian faith.
